Jesica Pitchford
Originally from the Eastern Cape, Jessica Pitchford has been a journalist in Johannesburg since graduating from Rhodes University in the 80s. She was a reporter for SABC news and current affairs for 15 years, covering the violence in the run-up to the 1994 election and the assassination of Chris Hani. She worked as a political correspondent in the first democratic parliament; reported from the Truth & Reconciliation Commission and accompanied Nelson Mandela on state visit to Brazil in 1997.

In 2000, she joined the current affairs show Special Assignment as a specialist producer. During that time she won a CNN African Journalist of the Year Award and in 2007 was named the Media Institute of Southern Africa’s Investigative Journalist of the Year.

In 2008 she took up a position as managing editor at Carte Blanche, M-Net’s weekly current affairs show. In 2013 she authored Carte Blanche: The Stories Behind the Stories.
