Darryl Earl David
Darryl Earl David was born in the summer of 1970. His father named him after Darryl Bestall, the Natal cricketer, who was in scorching form that year.

At an early age however, his dad thrust a camera into his hands when it became evident he would not live up to his namesake!

By day, Darryl is the only Indian lecturer of Afrikaans in SA. By night he organises the Breyten Breytenbach Festival in Montagu, the JM Coetzee Festival in Richmond, the Schreiner Festival in Cradock, the Midlands Booklovers Festival in Howick, the Fugard Festival in Richmond and the BoekBedonnerd Literary Festival in Booktown Richmond.

Darryl is most importantly the founder of SA’s national Booktown in Richmond, which he describes as his magnificent obsession.

He is also the author of three books on churches of SA - 101 Country Churches of SA, A Platteland Pilgrimage and Church Tourism in SA.
